Bluegrass Jamboree Tour Blog - Tuesday 8th December
Well after a sleepy Monday show in Ansbach, which was still lots of fun, even after experiencing one of the smallest dressing rooms of the tour, we are all on the bus again. The average journey seems to be taken around six hours although tomorrow we will have the shortest journey of the tour to our fifth venue…. Hurrah! We are ALL looking forward to sleeping in. Due to German law regarding driving we are required to make half hour stops regularly…. So we are all fast becoming accustomed to German service stations and practically everything they stock…. We all get our 50-cent ready for the loo at least!
Steve is going from strength to strength on bass and is fast becoming every ones favourite guy due to his vast collection of films on his laptop and his witty charm! Go on Steve! In true musician style all of the bands are having some late nights after the shows staying up and relaxing and laughing (lots), which is fun. Weirdly I have been in room 14 for 3 nights in a row… I wonder how long I can keep it going for! Verner, our soundman, is a true legend and we were all very grateful for his prowess on sound as well as his little gifts for the musicians!!!! Verner has penned The Toy Hearts the ‘punk-rock’ bluegrass band of the tour and even has a little dance for how we play…. This made us all laugh a lot! It is so great that everyone is getting along so well and we are enjoying eating together and sharing experiences at the end of each show, definitely a community spirit and camaraderie is forming! A highlight of last night was without a doubt learning a very cool trick to get the meat of chicken wings from Woody….. genius!
Tonight we play in Waldkraiburg for the American Embassy, which is exciting for us Brits at least! We have been writing and working on some new material that we hope to get into the set during the tour. We are still all enjoying the food, even if there is rather a lot of bread, cheese and cold meats…. The beer is consistently good and needless to say no one is complaining! Time to check off now, but we will give you an update tmrw!
